The Coldplay live experience

Coldplay
USA

The sound, energy and emotion of Coldplay’s legendary live shows, on stages across the U.S. and beyond.

More than a tribute.
A celebration.

Led by internationally touring singer-songwriter Tom Ricci as Chris Martin, whose vocal tone and phrasing capture the unmistakable character of Coldplay’s frontman, the band delivers a remarkably authentic live experience. Ricci performs the songs in their original keys, moving naturally between lead vocals, piano, and acoustic guitar, backed by a powerhouse band dedicated to recreating the details and dynamics of the original recordings.

From Viva La Vida, Yellow, Fix You, The Scientist, Clocks, and Paradise to Coldplay’s newest hits, the show moves from intimate, emotional moments to massive singalongs and soaring anthems—capturing not only the music, but the spirit and connection of a Coldplay concert.

With dynamic musicianship, immersive production, and an uplifting show for audiences of all ages, Coldplay USA is more than a tribute—it’s a celebration of the Coldplay live experience.

Tom Ricci of Coldplay USA

Tom Ricci

(As Chris Martin • Vocals, Guitar, Keys)

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tom Ricci brings a lifetime of performing, writing and touring experience to the role of Chris Martin. Equally at home behind a microphone, piano or acoustic guitar, he approaches Coldplay’s music as a musician first, performing the songs in their original keys and capturing the vocal phrasing, dynamics and emotional range that define the band’s sound.

Born in Buenos Aires and based in Southern California for more than two decades, Tom has performed across North and South America, Europe and Asia, at clubs, theaters, festivals and concert venues. His career as an original artist spans alternative rock, acoustic singer-songwriter material, and jazz, with multiple releases to his name and performances alongside acclaimed musicians from around the world.

As frontman, Tom channels the energy, musicianship and connection of Chris Martin, moving between soaring arena anthems, intimate piano ballads, acoustic performances and the audience interaction at the heart of a Coldplay show. For Tom, the goal has always been bigger than getting the notes right: it is to create the same sense of joy, emotion and shared experience that makes Coldplay’s music resonate around the world.

Joel Tetzlaff of Coldplay USA

Joel Tetzlaff

(As Will Champion • Drums, Backing Vocals)

Originally from Wisconsin, Joel Tetzlaff brings groove, energy and personality to the role of Will Champion. Inspired early on by the larger-than-life drums and music videos of the ’80s and ’90s, he developed a powerful yet musical approach anchored by a deep pocket and dynamic feel.

Joel plays a central role in both the musical and technical side of the live show. Besides driving the band from behind the kit, he delivers the soaring backing vocals and handles key production cues that bring the show together night after night.

His background spans jazz, rock, classical and orchestral percussion, plus several seasons in drum corps with the Madison Scouts. He has performed with bands throughout the Midwest and Southern California. His setup features Yamaha drums, Remo heads, Vic Firth sticks and Zildjian cymbals.

Evan Backal of Coldplay USA

Evan Backal

(As Guy Berryman • Bass, Synth)

A Southern California native, Evan grew up in a deeply musical family and began playing piano, guitar and drums at an early age. Bass came later, when his parents needed a bassist for their Steely Dan tribute, Kids of Charlemagne. Filling a need quickly became a passion, and Evan has been holding down the low end ever since.

A founding member of Coldplay USA in 2023, Evan helped shape the band’s sound and identity from the beginning. His groove, musicality and multi-instrumental background give him an instinctive understanding of how each part fits into the larger sound.

Outside Coldplay USA, Evan is the bassist for Supersonic LA, America’s Best Tribute to Oasis, and occasionally plays drums in a Doors tribute. His favorite part of performing is the connection with the audience, new venues and cities, and sharing the stage with musicians who take both the music and the performance seriously.

Carl Macchia of Coldplay USA

Carl Macchia

(As Jonny Buckland • Guitar)

When Coldplay’s “Yellow” was released in 2000, Carl was immediately drawn to the band’s sound and became an instant fan. Jonny Buckland’s atmospheric, textural approach to guitar fit naturally with the style of playing and sound design Carl has spent his entire musical career developing.
